MCC Charter Members
In the Beginning
Early in 1957, there was interest among the faculty members of the Sandy Spring Elementary School in Montgomery County to start an alumni chapter for their alma mater. All of the faculty members as well as the principal were graduates of Bowie State College. On April 9, 1957, the first meeting of the Montgomery County Chapter convened at Sandy Spring Elementary School. Bowie State College alumni teaching at other Montgomery County Public Schools were invited to attend. There was an election of officers, who would serve for one year, beginning May 1, 1957, as follows:
